Cook, Talk, Dine & more with local Family at their Delhi Home

Nice and authentic cooking class with Indian family

We really loved this experience at the beautiful home of Nidhi and Roopak. It was special to have a look inside the home of an Indian familie and to have an authentic experience of their culture and cuisine.

The food was very tasty and healthy and the guides were very attentive. The two guides are very friendly and talk to you in a way that keeps you from getting bored. The tour was more than worth the food.

The best activities in India!

That was the best activities in India. Roopak and Nidhi were so friendly and we enjoyed talking with them. They are open to any kinds of questions and we learned the Indian culture in details. I will recommend my friends to have this experience!

We enjoyed cooking and learning some Hindi phrases.

We had such a great time with Roopak and Nidhi. We enjoyed cooking and learning some Hindi phrases. The masala chai was delicious. We also learnt lots of interesting things about India. Would thoroughly recommend.

Great cooking class in Delhi

Nidhi & Roopak provided a very hospitable experience in their home. The class was very well structured with cooking and interactive exchanges between hosts and guest. Time flew by quickly and food was very good! I can highly recommend booking this class.

Out of the Ordinary Experience

We had a great time at this event. Host and hostess were very welcoming. Cooking and eating together was fun. I recommend this experience to travelers interested in getting more involved with locals.

So much more than a cooking class!

This is not just a cooking class; it is a cultural experience. We were able to see inside the life of a very kind and spiritual couple who welcomed us into their home and made us feel very comfortable. And, yes, there was cooking! We participated in making the vegetarian meal (which was delicious!) and we all learned so much, not just about the ingredients and how to prepare the meal, but also their attitudes about food and life, religion and spirituality, family and society. It was a lovely day, we all thoroughly enjoyed it, and are so grateful to Nidhi and Roopak for this experience.

Insightful and welcoming stay with local cuisine, culture and friendly atmosphere!

Brilliant activity that really offers amazing opportunity to find out as much as you want about India, the culture, the religions, customs, useful information, Hindi, the cuisine and pretty much anything that comes to mind. Hosts were extremely welcoming and friendly. Food was great, we made aloo ghobi, roti, chai and a dessert 🙂 Would totally recommend for anyone as either an introduction to India, or for travellers that are already mid-way through they journey to ask about the unanswered questions they encountered throughout their travels.

Wholesome experience

It was such a pleasure to be hosted at Nidhi and Roopak’s beautiful home. They were so thoughtful and showered us with gifts from the moment we entered the house. We received a lot of useful information about Indian culture, food, languages and much more. Roopak is very knowledgeable and answered many questions we had about Indian culture. The food we made consisted of simple recipes that can be incorporated into every day dishes. I particularly enjoyed learning more about the spices used in everyday cooking. We made veggie dishes, a desert and of course masala chai. It was really wholesome experience and a must do while in India

A meal and connection for life!

I recently attended a cooking class hosted by Roopak and his wife Nidhi, and it was an exceptional experience. Although I arrived late, Roopak was incredibly helpful, guiding me to their place with patience and kindness. The class itself was wonderful—both Roopak and Nidhi not only shared their culinary expertise but also gave me fascinating insights into Indian culture and life in Delhi. The conversations were as enriching as the cooking, making the experience even more special. At the end of the class, Roopak went above and beyond by accompanying me to the metro station, which was a kind gesture I truly appreciated. If you're looking for a cooking class in Delhi, I highly recommend this one. It’s more than just learning to cook; it’s about connecting with warm and generous hosts who make you feel at home.

The quintessential India in an evening experience

Enriching cultural experience that will teach you the way of life of a middle class Hindu family in a warm welcoming way. The amount of detail and effort put into this experience by the hosts is unrivalled by any tour I’ve ever been a part of. We filled a giant blind spot in our knowledge of Hinduism, cuisine and the people of India thanks to the knowledge shared over a delicious meal. Be sure to see the cow shed and feed the baby calves!

Worth more than just a trip!

It was a very valuable experience. I learned a lot from listening to questions I had since coming to India. It's an experience that's hard to find on a simple trip, the food is delicious, and the couple is very classy. It's good to know vegetables that don't seem to exist in Japan!

Discover the real side of India

Maybe one of the best experiences in our life and we get to talk to a local family who knows so much about the history, culture, religion, and people of India. Roopak and his wife gave us the best explanation with detailed information that you cannot even find online. For example, what is the real color of Indian flag. The castes system of a converted Hindu, etc.. We’re so grateful. It was such a pleasant time with them. Delhi will be less interesting without them.

A dinner with family ❤️

Last time I was in Delhi, I signed up for a cooking class through Airbnb experiences at a local family’s home. I was traveling for work but decided to stay a couple of extra days alone to explore. This tour attracted me because it was advertised both a cooking class and a cultural exchange where I would not only have the opportunity learn how to make authentic Indian dishes, they (and I) would be able to ask any questions to each other without judgement. I would also be able to experience the traditional ways of living of an Indian family. Roopak & Nidhi were so gracious and welcoming and following that experience, we have continued to keep in touch over the years including sharing information about our family’s travel and yoga pictures - given Nidhi is also a yoga fanatic. Since I knew I was returning to Delhi, I of course arranged to visit my extended family 🤗…and this time I also brought my mom and co worker! What a beautiful evening! This time, we shared the experience with a person touring from Kazakistan and the UK. We learned and laughed together and after cooking, sat around the table and enjoyed our delicious meal of Matar Paneer Masala (Peas & Cheese Curry), Kaddu ki Sabzi (Pumpkin Vegetable) and homemade Rotis (Flat Indian Bread). This was our final evening and meal in India and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Highly recommend this experience

This was a superb event. The hosts so welcoming and informative. A very relaxed experience where we learnt a lot both at the time and with the extra information supplied later. Best of all though was just being with this super couple. I strongly recommend everyone to do this.

Amazing cultural immersion

The entire experience was absolutely great. It wasn't just learning a little bit of indian cuisine, it was understanding a little bit of every aspect of indian culture. The experience was surprisingly good and I would recommend it to absolutely anyone visiting Delhi.

Excellent Indian cuisine

A fantastic Indian family, Nidhi and Roopak made me feel at home. Great food, explanations are clear and the steps are precise very carefully to teach you Indian cuisine excellently. Thank you, I carry you in my heart.

Amazing

Nidhi and Roopak are very kind hearted ppl. Dhalii 🥰Also great to talk to u and getting know about Indian culture ❤️ it was nice to meet you❤️ I would definitely recommend ❤️

A meal to be remembered

Nidhi & Roopak gave us the warmest welcome at their lovely home. We learned so much about their family and local culture. Cooking was so fun, so many spices that I never imagined would create such incredible flavors. It was a meal to be remembered :)

Unique experience in Delhi 🙏🏼🇮🇳

Roopak and Nidhi were amazing! They welcomed us into their beautiful home and made us feel so welcome. Roopak sent us lots of really useful information about Delhi on WhatsApp prior to our arrival which was really helpful. Their house was easy to reach via Uber from the city, taking about an hour but only costing around 450 rupees, around £4 so very cheap. We cooked and then ate lunch in their home which was great and tasted fantastic. We also made masala chai(tea). My wife had a henna tattoo drawn by Nidhi. Roopak also taught us lots about the history of Delhi and India in general, we also learnt some Hindi words. Overall I would say if you are visiting Delhi then this is a must, such a unique experience.

Diwali Dinner

Nidhi & Roopak hosted us and our friends for Diwali in November 2024. This couple are fabulous hosts - friendly, kind, generous and wonderful company. We cooked together, laughed and danced together all the while learning about what Diwali means and gaining some insights into Hindu culture more generally. Roopak is a fabulous teacher and Nidhi and amazing cook and together a gorgeous couple. We could not have been made to feel more welcome. If you want an authentic Indian family experience make contact with these folks the next time you are heading to Delhi.

Beautiful experience not to be missed!

We had a great time in this family and we recommend the experience! Everything was perfect, whether it was the takeover, cooking, explanations, small activities that make the cooking time pass faster etc.. everything is extremely well thought out and very qualitative. We learned a lot about cooking but also Indian and Hindu culture. This is really an experience not to be missed!

An enjoyable night in Delhi

Overall enjoyable Cooking Class experience. You will eat in a lovely apartment home of an upper middle class family. They are kind, very experienced hosts. Apartment is clean, cool decor, cooking in a standard kitchen with one stove. Not multiple stations. They will teach you about Hindu customs and Indian traditions. You must be diligent in asking questions and getting involved if you have any hope to replicate the dish. Come prepared with questions if you want to learn more as they make special time for question and answers and fun little Hindi lessons. Some of the utensils are challenging to use and the space in the kitchen is tight for multiple people to help at one time. The food was good. We had a bread, vegetable dish, and curry dish. The main curry dish did run out. Wasn’t too big of an issue because I believe most were full, but I did personally want more and had to fill up on veggies and bread instead. We also prepared a no bake dessert and a delicious masala chai- everything from scratch. The hosts are very kind, organized and flexible. They offer additional activities to add onto the Cooking Class. We did the market tour. Personally, I found it lacking, it was typical street wears rather than a market to see what produce and spices we might be cooking with later or how locals shop.

You will enjoy and never forget them.

An incredible experience. Spending time, cooking, and conversing with Nidhi and Roopak is a memory you’ll carry with you forever from India. Always attentive to you, they share clear instructions and always make sure you’re comfortable. They welcome you into their home and make you part of the delightful ritual that is cooking. I was thrilled with this experience. Highly recommended to take a wonderful memory home.

Unique experience

It was a great experience and a fantastic insight into the real life of an Indian family. The organization was perfect from A to Z. We felt at home with friends, cooking was huge fun. It was incredibly delicious. I'm really looking forward to cooking it at home with my mom. Have learned a lot about life in India, culture and much more, have been shown and tried for themselves. I can only recommend this incredible and unique experience.

Visit friends

Worm welcome by a local couple in Delhi. Feels like visiting friends in their home. Cooking with original food was really great and much fun. They are very hearty people! They care about holy cows in the neighborhood. We went to that place. Very impressive. You can ask them so many things about India and Delhi. Great experience. Thank you for the day!

Friendly family Diwali dinner and experience

A fantastic way to experience Diwali with a welcoming family who opened their home to us and share their culture through cooking, decorating and rich conversations.

Diwali Cultural Experience

I visited Roopak's house for the Diwali experience. The experience was great! Got to learn a lot about the origins/story behind Diwali, made masala chai and other Indian sweets, created my own Rangoli, and had fun cultural discussions with the family. Highly recommend to visitors visiting Delhi during Diwali!

Great cultural experience for the most important Indian festival of the year with a family at home

Roopak guided us to his place of residence with well prepared information and welcomed us together with his family at his home. Matching the Diwali festival, we were put on a nice necklace and we got the typical red dot painted on our foreheads. We cooked Indian chai together after a meeting, got a short Hindi crash course during a break and decorated the apartment with Rangoli and flower blossoms with the help of his daughter. In addition, we held a small Diwali ceremony at the in-house temple with oil lamps, mantras and bell rings, for which we also cooked sweets together. Roopak is very educated, professional and highly hospitable together with his family. The experience was an excellent immersion in the Indian culture of this special festival and I would recommend it to anyone who would like to spend a great time with a family from the region.

Delhi Must!

Nidhi and Roopak were absolutely the best host one could possibly ask for! My wife and I had a super jam-packed visit throughout Delhi including several sightseeing tours, upscale restaurant patronage but this cooking experience was hands down our favorite item on the itinerary. It was not only an intimate cooking experience where we learned how to cook local cuisine with fresh ingredients (the milk man literally knocked on the door to deliver the days milk for our session) but also an immersive cultural experience. We understood better of the Hindu religion due to Roopak’s and Nidhi’s exceptional english, offered desserts to the gods, and had activities in between cooking times. We learned a few phrases in Hindi! Overall they went above and beyond and for a short period we felt like true locals. Thank you best of luck!

Experience Diwali with locals

I spent a beautiful day with Roopak and his wife in their home. We learned about Diwali, got to take part in many of the traditions that belongs to this festive period, helped prepare a traditional breakfast and chai. It was such a nice authentic experience, I can highly recommend it.

My heart is so full from the loveliest of afternoons!

This is maybe the best thing I’ve done in India. Not only do you get to make delicious (and I mean really good) food, but you get a warm welcome, you get to hear about some Indian history and history of Hinduism. We made desert and Chai as well. I felt so welcomed and also comfortable and safe as a solo female traveler. If you do one thing in Delhi, do this!! Thank you Roopak and Nadhi ✨

Absolutely amazing experience

This was truely an amazing experience. You will not find a more humble, heartwarming and welcoming host than this. We are very greatful for their hospitality, the delicious food, and the insights into the daily life of many indians. If only we had booked this earlier in our journey through India, we would have loved to come for a second visit. If you have the chance and you want to experience a side of India that no other guide or tour will show you, then you should definately come and visit. You wont regret it.

Cooking Class in a lovely family home

Nidhi & Roopak are wonderful hosts. They went out of their way to make our experience special. We spent 4 hours with them, cooking, eating and learning about India. The food was delicious. We highly recommend this activity. Don’t miss it!

An incredible unique experience

I had an incredible unique experience at the home of Roopak and Nidhi. As soon as I booked they started sharing tidbits of information such as 5 useful Hindi words, places to see in Delhi, etc. it was very helpful and informative and helped me build my itinerary for my time in Delhi. Upon arrival we are greeting with an Indian welcome which includes a few little rituals such as wrapping red thread around your wrist. Then we started cooking. I learned about ingredients I have never used and cooking techniques that were new to me. Meanwhile during the entire experience, Roopak is sharing endless unique things about the Indian culture and history. After cooking this amazing meal we sat down and ate together. This is probably the best meal I have ever had! All the ingredients are fresh, the milk we used came from the Dairy that morning. All the spices are whole and we grind them as we use them with a mortar and pestle. After we ate lunch we went back to the kitchen to make dessert and masala chai. Then we leisurely talked and continued to learn about the Indian culture, religions, customs, habits. Upon departure we all received a little gift which we were told not to open for a few days. We must wait for a text which explains the gift. I still haven’t opened it and I’m so intrigued. If I ever visit Delhi again, I will do another experience with Roopak and Nidhi. They adjust the experience for the time of year and any festivals happening. So it will always be unique. I highly recommend this experience. Don’t hesitate, go for it and book it!

Best home cooking experience!

Nicest couple Such an inviting home Great talks, laughs, and cooking! Thanks for having us! We will definitely be back next time in india!

Cooking & culture

A unique experience that should be tried by most to learn about Indian cuisine and other culture particularities! The hosts are very friendly, welcoming, very knowledgable and made our visit very pleasurable - we are grateful for this experience, we learned new things about India that are not explained on any of other tours. 10/10 Recommend for anyone.

Wonderful deep dive into Indian culture

Our experience was wonderful! The hosts were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and open. We learned a lot about Indian history, culture, and religion beyond just the food. This unique experience was fully tailored to our preferences and food intolerances. We couldn't have wished for a deeper and more inclusive experience! We also had a yoga class with our host, which was both interesting and relaxing. The cute and mindful gifts we received made us feel very special and appreciated. Absolutely recommended for anyone looking for a non-touristy, full immersion into Indian culture and ways of living.

Good place to be :)

Very nice people and great food. Had a good time at their place :) We cooked a curry and daal, coconut balls and a wonderful chai tea. Afterwards we ve had a little Hindu lesson and in general I ve learned a lot about India.

Awesome cooking class

Great Couple Friendly hosting Good food Nice wipe I would do it again On top we had a great Neighborhoodparty because of a Festival

Great tour. A somewhat tight structure.

Roopak and his wife have made a perfect tour. Everything has been thought of: they give all the love they have. It is therefore highly recommended to me. However, the experience has a fairly tight structure: all possible spontaneous moments are filled with quizzes, fixed parts. I'd like to loosen that up. But in general I understand the good reviews very well: this is something you must have done.

Utterly amazing!

The hosts provided an experience which is not comparable to anything else we have been on across various countries and excursions. Incredibly warm and welcoming, beautiful clean home who couldn’t do more to provide you with a truly unique India experience. They provide you a wealth of knowledge beyond the average tourist would see making you feel incredibly valued. The cooking experience was very hands on delivered in a very fun and knowledgeable way. The food was excellent with both being the perfect hosts - best value for money experience we have ever had!

A not to be missed amazing experience

A major highlight of my week in Delhi. I am so happy that this was my final experience of my birthday week in India. Roopak and Nidhi were in constant contact from the moment I booked this experience. The level of information, advice, and assistance provided was exceptional. It was so much more than a cooking class, and I have done many in a lot of different countries. Thank you to you both for such a warm welcome into your beautiful home. If I had realised you offered an Air BNB before coming to India, I would have loved to add this to my experience. Your sharing of your love and knowledge of India, which included the cooking experience and delicious food was exceptional. More importantly, learning about your culture, traditions, and history was so appreciated and such an important part of my holiday experience. As a solo traveller, this was such a highlight of my trip.

A Must for beginning of Trip!

My trip with Nidhi and Roopak was the best decision I made on my trip besides seeing the Taj Mahal. I did this at the end of my trip, but I recommend this for the beginning. They really help put you on the right track and give you a really great cultural lesson about India. History , culture, art class, mendhi and I was able to do a yoga class with Nidhi, a certified world class certified instructor! They taught me more about the Krisha faith which I appreciated. Cooking with them was an unforgettable experience. They are both really sweet and I got to share some fun laughs as well as create some really nice art . I also made some Masala tea from scratch, which was the best tea I have ever had and to my spicy specifications! The food was so delicious and they made all of the experience so fun. They are thoughtful in every detail and I cannot think of something they could have done to make my trip better. They sent you the recipes and list of recommendations and gave me many sweet, thoughtful gifts, One of the best gifts of all is much they care and I have new friends with genuine great people.

Great food experience

This cooking experience was the perfect way to finish my trip in India. I felt very welcomed into Roopak and Nidhis home for a lovely afternoon. The food we prepared was delicious and no questions were too much.

Best activity to do in INDIA!!

We had an incredible time, so informative and fun! They were great communicators making everything go smoothly. It was our one year anniversary and they gave us traditional wedding item as a gift, so thoughtful! The food was great and we felt great after eating it. Would highly recommend. We love our new friends!

Loved it

The day with Nidhi and Roopak was fantastic, and I can definitely recommend it to everyone. They invited me into their home, and I got to see what it's like for them. Afterwards, we cooked together and then had dinner. Overall, it was a ten out of ten, and I would recommend it to anyone. Thank you for the wonderful time!

An unforgettable experience

I absolutely loved this experience! It was ideal for me as a solo traveler in Delhi! What I found very impressive was the level of contact and support I received since I made the booking. The host messaged me to ensure I knew what to expect from the day, and was also very helpful and caring to ensure I reached their home safely and back to my hotel. I got to learn so much about the culture, history and traditions in the most beautiful Indian home. Roopak and Palak were amazing hosts, very kind any willing to share as much insight into any questions I had. The cooking was so much fun and delicious, recipes which I will be able to make at home. We went through so many fun activities from which I learned a lot and had great fun doing it! I’ll definitely return and also recommend to any colleagues and friends who will be traveling to India.

One hundred percent recommended experience in Delhi.0

A wonderful experience. A lovely family that opens up their clothes and relives wonderfully. Not only do you learn about local cuisine but it is also an excellent opportunity to get to know Indian culture from excellent hosts. One hundred percent recommended.

Incredible experience to live hospitality India, learn cooking, culture and religion with wonderful family

Incredible experience to live Indian hospitality. Roopak and his wife are exceptional Host and the level of attention to detail is impressive. Very interesting to learn cooking, culture and religion cok them. I recommend taking that tour as soon as you arrive in Delhi or before returning as the location is very convenient for the airport
